Description

This ewer was made in Purmerend, between 1904 and 1907. This is model 1008, which is known from the Brantjes factory from the same city. The ewer has a braod and flat design, it is 18.8 cm (7.4 inch) high, 17 cm (6.7 inch) wide and only 5.5 cm (2 inch) deep. On both the front and back a beautiful decoration has been applied with yellow and orange tiger lilies, with hanging stamens, on a light yellow background. The fine yellow lines above and below the flowers are beautiful. In the book: Purmerends Jugendstil Aardewerk on page 134 there is an overview of different models with this decoration (see photo below). The ewer is well signed with the factory logo of Plateelbakkerij Haga from Purmerend and the signatures of Roelof Sterken (RS) and Hendricus Dekker (HD). The object is in good condition. The surface has a pattern of craquelure and a small chip on the spout has been professionally restored.
