Description
This impressive vase was made by the Dutch pottery factory Zuid-Holland from Gouda in the period between 1910 and 1905. It is painted with a P-decor in green, yellow and blue colour areas, which are completely made up of fine lines and dots. You can also see flowers, with a single red flower bud. This P-decor is also called ‘kantjes’ and was introduced in 1901 by the Zuid-Holland pottery factory from Gouda to compete with the very popular and expensive eggshell porcelain of it’s competitor Rozenburg from The Hague. This is model 5005, a vase of 31.5 cm or 12.4 inch high and 21 cm or 8.2 inch wide. The model has two striking narrow ears, which connect the vase and the neck at a right angle. The ears are in perfect condition. The vase is overall in a very good condition. Only the foot has a small crack and a chip at the bottom. Fortunately, this is not disturbing at the front. The vase is well marked. You can see the words: made in Zuid-Holland and a reference to the decor. The monogram is difficult to read. The vase was probably painted by Johannes de Vries.
