Rozenburg vase, model 356, with decoration of dandelions from 1897

Rozenburg vase, model 356 with an octagonal design and a decoration of dandelions from 1897.

Description

This vase was made by the Dutch pottery Rozenburg from The Hague in October 1897. This is model 356, a model with a octagonal design. The neck, foot and belly are divided into eight equal sides, flanked by two short ears next to the neck. The vase is 27.5 cm (10.8 inch) high and 17.5 cm (6.9 inch) wide at the ears. The vase is painted with a beautiful decoration of dandelions. You can see the flower buds, the flowers in full bloom and the fluff balls. On the side of the vase you can see the serrated leaves. The vase has a beautiful colour scheme of beige, green, yellow and brown. The vase was painted by J.L Verbeek Wolthuys. The vase is in a neat condition. There was some damage on one of the sharp edges on the belly, with a missing piece of glaze. This has been very neatly and professionally restored and is invisible to the naked eye.
