Brantjes Purmerend, bottle shaped vase, model 1129, with decor of clover

Brantjes Purmerend, bottle shaped vase, model 1129 of 22 cm high, with decor of clover, made in 1902.

Description

This vase was made by the Dutch pottery company Firma Wed. N.S.A. Brantjes from Purmerend in 1902. The vase is model 1129, a bottle-shaped design with a wide belly and a long, narrow neck. It is 22 cm or 8.6 inch high and 12.5 cm or 4.9 inch wide. The vase is painted with a decoration of clover. You can see the pink flowers, between graceful branches with clover leaves. The colour combination is beautiful: beige, light green, dark green, pink and dark brown. The vase is well signed on the bottom. You can see the factory name: Faience de Purmerende Hollande, the logo of the factory (a clog and NB for Nicolaas Brantjes), the year letter: G for 1902 and the model number. It says 1131, but in the book Purmerends Jugendstil Aardewerk, 1895-1907 the same model is mentioned as 1129. The painter might have made a mistake. The vase is signed AS (name unknown). The vase is in good condition. There is a small discoloration on the neck, which could indicate a restoration from the past.
