Rozenburg vase with octagonal design, model 356, 27 cm high, made of pewter 1896 and painted by Jan van der Vet.

Description

This vase was made by the NV. Haagsche plateelbakkerij Rozenburg in December 1896. The vase is model 356, which has a characteristic octagonal design. The foot, the belly and the neck all have eight equal sides, flanked by two round ears. This vase is decorated with a floral motif with purple flowers and green leaves. The painter is Jan van der Vet. The vase is 27.5 cm or 10.8 inch in height and 17.5 cm or 6.9 inch wide at the ears. The vase is well signed on the bottom with the logo of the Dutch pottery factory: Rozenburg Den Haag, together with the symbol of the stork. You can also see the K#, the year sign for the period between December 1896 and December 1897. The bottom of the vase is signed by painter Jan van der Vet. The vas was given the work order number: 71. The vase is in good condition, except for some minor damage. There is a hairline crack in one of the ears (see photo).
