Description
This lidded vase was made by the Dutch pottery factory De Distel from Amsterdam. The vase is dated very accurately: 23 February 1900. This is model 29, a vase with a high foot, a round belly, flanked by two ears, so very characteristic for De Distel. The vase has the original lid and that is special. You often see this vase on the market without it. The vase is 34 cm or 13.4 inch high (with lid) and 18 cm or 7 inch wide. The vase is painted with a floral decoration in yellow, blue and red, against a brown background. The colours are, as is often the case with Distel pottery, somewhat less vibrant. The vase is well signed with the name of the pottery factory: Distel, the model and decoration number: 29/2 and the production date: 29/2/1900. You can also see the signature of the painter GH or CH (name unknown). The vase is in good condition. There was a chip on the edge of the vase that has been professionally and invisibly restored. Lid, foot and ears are in mint condition.
