Description
This wall charger was made by the Dutch pottery company Zuid-Holland from Gouda in 1901 or 1902. The large plate, designed to be hung on the wall, is size 6 and measures 31.7 cm or 12.4 inches in diameter. It is painted with three tulips in various shades of red and purple, against a very dark blue background. The tulips are surrounded by swirling green leaves and yellow patches with small black dots. The painter of the wall charger is Willem Muller, who worked at the Gouda pottery factory (intermittently) between 1900 and 1954. The object bears his monogram: WM, as well as the words “Made in Zuid-Holland” and the Zuid-Holland factory logo. The model number 6 is scratched onto the bottom of the charger. The object is in perfect condition, apart from a few irregularities in the glaze (created during the firing proces).
