Description

This is an impressive and early piece of Gouda pottery from The Art Nouveau Periode, produced in the Netherlands. The vase is model 130 from the Pottery Factory Zuid-Holland from Gouda. The vase is large. It is 30.2 cm 0o 12 inch high and 18.5 cm or 7 inch wide. It is an early model, made between 1899 and 1904 and painted by Fransiscus Fonville, who worked at the Gouda pottery factory between 1897 and 1907. The condition of the vase is very good. There is no visible damage to the neck or ears. There is a small spot at the base of the vase, which is only visible under ultraviolet light, where I suspect a chip has been professionally restored. This is not visible on the naked eye. The Vase used to be part of Nico van Eijk’s collection. Van Eijk was one of the most notable Dutch Art Pottery collectors and dealers in the Netherlands.
