Description

This is a tall, narrow and slender vase with an impressive height of 44 cm or 17,3 inch on a wide foot of 14 cm or 5,5 inch. The vase was made in Gouda by the Zuid-Holland Pottery Factory in the period between 1901 and 1907. The object is painted with a P-decor of blackberrie. You can see the green leaves, the brown branches, the light yellow blossom and the purple fruits painted at the very top of the neck. The P-decor is characterised by colour areas with wavy motifs in soft pastel shades. The P-decor was introduced in 1902 to compete with the expensive, but very popular eggshell porcelain of the Rozenburg pottery factory in The Hague. The vase has model 293 and is painted by Charlotte Delchambre, who worked at the Gouda pottery factory from the year 1900. The vase is not quite perfect. Some chips are visible on the bottom, which you can also see at the bottom of the foot at the front. However, due to the overhanging low belly of this vase, those small chips are fortunately not too noticeable. Also the neck has been professionally restoured.
