Description

This impressive handle vase was made by the Dutch pottery Factory Zuid-Holland from Gouda between 1899 and 1900. The vase is of an impressive size: 34 cm or 13.4 inches high and 32 cm or 12.6 inches wide and has a striking handle that runs all the way across the width of the vase. The handle is completely intact. The vase is painted by Daniël de Jong and clearly signed as such. De Jong worked at the Gouda factory between 1899 and 1900. The vase must therefore have been produced during this period. The botanical pattern with purple flowers and buds is striking and has lots of style elements from the Art Nouveau period. It really is a beautiful specimen and also in excellent condition. No damage was observed, except for a few ‘fleebites’ in the glaze.
