Description

This bowl was made by Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland from Gouda in the year 1900. The bowl is a good example of early Gouda Pottery. The object was designed and painted by Chris Lanooy and also well signed. The decor consists of a geometrical design of red flowers on a green and brown background. The bowl is marked with the well-known factory logo, the model number 53, the year mark B for 1900 and the signature CJL, the abbreviation for Christiaan Johannes Lanooij (or Lanooy, as he is know abroad). Chris Lanooy worked at the Gouda factory between 1900 and 1906.

The object is in a good condition. A piece of glaze is missing from the bottom of the bowl. The same goes for the inner edge of the bowl (not visible from the front). And on the top of the rim there are some dark small spots. However, these seem to be in the glaze. There are some irregularities in the decor, it seems that here and there there were tiny air bubbles in the glaze. But these imperfections are barely visible.
