Description

This vase was made by the Dutch pottery company Zuid-Holland from Gouda in the period 1901-1904. The vase is model 324, an object with a wide base that tapers into a narrow neck. There are two ears on either side of the vase. The vase is 37.6 cm or 18.8 inch high and 17 cm or 6.7 inch wide. The vase is painted with a P-decor that is composed entirely of thin, wavy lines. This decor is also called ‘kantjes’. A background is painted in green and yellow tones on a white biscuit. On top of that, star-shaped flowers and flower buds are painted in different shades of brown. The pottery painter is Dirk Bordewijk, who worked at the Gouda pottery factory between 1901 and 1904. The vase is well signed with the words: Made in Zuid-Holland, the factory logo and the signature of Bordewijk: DGB. Furthermore, there is a poorly readable sign at the bottom of the vase, probably in relation to the decor. The vase is in neat condition. Both arms have had a professional restoration. There is nothing left to see from the alterations. Foot and neck are intact.
