Description

This antique vase was made by the Dutch pottery company Zuid-Holland from Gouda in the period 1901-1905. It is an early object with P-decor, a design with lovely yellow flowers. The vase has a background of red, yellow and green colour areas, which are entirely made up of fine wavy lines. This is the so-called P-decor (P stands for Porcelain) that is also known by the name: kantjes. Zuid-Holland has marketed this type of decor since 1901 to compete with the popular and expensive eggshell porcelain of the competing factory Rozenburg from The Hague. This vase is 23 cm or 9 inch high and 8.5 cm or 3.3 inch wide (at the ears). It has a square base of 7×7 cm (2.7 inch). This is model 5014. The bottom of the vase is well signed with the factory name: Made in Zuid-Holland, the logo with the Lazaruspoortje and the decor designation: P/B. It is not known who painted the vase. The monogram: MS is unknown. The vase is in very neat condition. It has no damage to the foot and arms. Only at the top of the neck a small damage has been very professionally restored. This is not visible to the naked eye.
