Firma Wed. N.S.A. Brantjes & Co, vase, model 1017 with red poppy

Description

This vase was made by the Dutch pottery company Firma Wed. N.S.A. Brantjes & Co from Purmerend. This is model 1017, a bottle-shapes vase with a height of 20 cm or 7.8 inch. It has a wide belly with a width of 17 cm or 6.9 inch and a thickening near the neck. The vase is painted with a decoration of red poppy and green, stylized leaves. It is decoration J. The colour combination of red and green is very beautiful. The vase is well signed with the logo of the Brantjes factory, the clog, and the monogram of Nicolaas Brantjes: NB. Furthermore, you can see the brand name at the bottom of the vase: Faience de Purmerende Hollande. The date letter D (1899), the model number: 1017, the decor: J, and the monogram of the painter: AS (unknown). The vase is in excellent condition, except for a few minuscule flaws in the glaze.
