Description

This Dutch antique vase was made by pottery factory Zuid-Holland from Gouda. It is model 212, with a small curve in the neck and measures 29.5 cm or 11.6 inches high and 17 cm or 6.7 inches wide. The vase is painted with a typical early ‘Gouda’ decor with irises. This decor is often seen on very early objects from the Gouda pottery factory Zuid-Holland and is made in red and blue. This specimen has red irises with purple tips. The stems of the flowers extend into graceful wavy patterns, which are so typical of the Art Nouveau period. The vase is painted by Franciscus Fonville and signed as such (F). At the bottom you will also see the words: Made in Zuid Holland, the factory logo, the model number (212) and the remains of the original sticker from the Gouda factory. The vase is in beautiful condition.
