Description

This vase, made by the Dutch pottery factory Rozenburg from The Hague (Den Haag), is a real eye-catcher because of its size. The vase is model 432 with a wide belly and two large ears, which run all the way from the foot to the neck. The vase is 38.5 cm or 15.1 inch high and 34 cm or 13.4 inch wide and is painted in a beautiful palette of different colours. You see a whole bouquet of flowers – violets and daisies – against a background of stylised leaves and yellow colour areas that are made up of small circles and dots. The deep, cobalt blue colour of the foot, neck and ears is very beautiful. The vase was painted in August 1902 by Jan van der Vet. The vase is well marked with the factory stamp of Rozenburg Den Haag. You can also see a sun, the year sign for 1902, the work order number: 1005 and the signature of Jan van der Vet (JvdV). The vase is not completely intact. One of the ears has – under the tension – suffered a small crack. This is visible, but not disturbing and can be restored well.
