Description

This small vase was made by the Dutch pottery factory Rozenburg from Den Haag (The Hague) and was made in August 1902. It is model 145p, a short vase with a square base that tapers into a round neck. The object is 12.8 cm (5 inch) high and 8 cm (3.1 inch) wide. The vase is painted with an imaginative design featuring green and yellow figures. Painter is Roelof Sterken. Due to its square shape, the vase has four sides, all of which feature a similar decoration. The vase is clearly marked on the bottom. You can see the factory logo with the stork and the words: Rozenburg Den Haag. Furthermore, the work order number is listed: #949, you can see the year mark for 1902: the sun, and the signature of Roelof Sterken: RS. The small vase is in neat condition. The neck is completely intact. The base has a hairline crack of approximately 2 cm on one of the four sides, just above the base, which tapers into a minuscule chip (see photo, greatly magnified). This is virtually invisible to the naked eye.
