Description

This large vase was made by the Dutch pottery factory Zuid-Holland from Gouda in the period 1900-1904. The vase is shaped like a Greek Amphora and is 31.2 cm or 12.3 inches high and 20 cm or 7.8 inches wide. It is model 102 of the Gouda pottery factory. This vase was painted by Wilhelmina van Maaren in the period 1900-1904. An early piece of Gouda pottery, clearly visible in the decor of purple violets and typical Jugendstil elements. The vase has beautiful, vibrant colours and is in excellent condition, without visible damage. However, there are two white spots on both sides, at the level of the casting seam, under the ears. It is not damage, you can see that the glaze continues, it seems as if the painter has ‘missed a spot’.
