Description

This bottle-shaped vase of Gouda pottery has a beautiful decor with flowers and butterflies in a beautiful colour scheme of light blue, orange and green. The vase was made in 1923 and painted in the so-called NP decor. NP stands for ‘new porcelain’, a homage to the popular and precious eggshell porcelain of the Rozenburg factory in The Hague. The vase is 28 cm or 11 inch tall and richly decorated on one side with flowers, leaves and decorative elements in the form of curls and circles. The back of the vase is much more sparsely decorated, but does have two lovely butterflies. The vase was made by the Zuid-Holland pottery factory from Gouda, which is clearly visible in the factory logo at the bottom of the vase. You can also see the reference to the NP decor, the model number 829 and the year mark of the double diamond for 1923. It is not known who the painter is. The vase is in mint condition.
