Rozenburg vase with two rectangular ears, model 430 of 32 cm high from 1903, by Jan van der Vet

Description

This large vase was made by Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg from The Hague. It is model 430, a tall vase with a rounded belly and a long neck, with two tall, rectangular ears on either side. This vase is 32 cm high and 22.5 cm wide at the point where the belly runs over into the ears. The vase was produced in 1903 and painted by Jan van der Vet. You see a beautiful floral decoration with violets in a beautiful colour combination of brown, blue and green. Here and there you see yellow, purple, turquoise and pink accents. Together a beautiful colour palette! The vase is well marked on the bottom with the logo of the Rozenburg factory in The Hague, the year sign for 1903 (star) and the signature of Jan van der Vet. You can also see the work order number: 734. The vase has suffered considerable damage to the neck in the past. This has been neatly and invisibly restored by a professional. On the back of the vase, near the rim of the neck the brown paint has a tiny scratch, through which you can see the white clay underneath (see photo).
