Description

This vase was made by the Dutch pottery factory called Arnhem, from the city of Arnhem, founded by the brothers Klaas and Jacob Vet. The vase is model 152, a vase with a round base that ends in a square neck. The Vase is 27 cm high and 13.5 cm wide (10.6 x 5.3 inches). The vase is painted with the so-called SO decor. It is not known what the abbreviation stands for. SO was designed by Philip van Praag, a designer who previously worked at the De Distel and Haga pottery factories and was good friends with Klaas Vet. The SO decor is characterised by a pattern of subtle dots and figures that follows and accentuates the model of the vase. The colour combination of grayisgh green, redish brown with black accents on the white background is beautiful. The vase is well signed with the factory logo of the Arnhem pottery factory: the rooster with the word: Arnhem. You also see a reference to the decor: SO and the model number: 152. You also see the signature of the painter: BI or BL, whose name is unknown. The vase has probably suffered damage to the neck in the past. You will see irregularities and discolouration on the inside of the neck. On the outside you can see that the glaze of the neck has a slightly different shine.
