Description

This bowl with lid was made in the year 1909 by the Dutch Rozenburg pottery company from The Hague. This model is listed in Rozenburg’s model books (which have been preserved) as a ‘bonbonnière’, a bowl for fancy chocolates. The bowl – with lid – is 8.5 cm or 3.3 inches high and 13 cm or 5.1 inches wide. On the bowl you see a beautifully painted and very detailed decor of a bird on a branch, surrounded by leaves. The colour scheme is beautiful with blue, yellow, green and brown. The painting on the lid fits seamlessly with the decor of the bowl. The object is in good condition, no signs of restoration have been observed. There is a hairline on one side, in the blue area (see photo). The bowl has a stamp on the bottom of the Rozenburg factory, the work order number: 138, the year mark of the torch (1909) and the signature of master painter Samuel Schellink.
