Description

This Gouda pottery ewer has a very wide belly, ending in a narrow, straight neck. It is model 169, made by the Dutch pottery factory Zuid-Holland from Gouda, between 1899 and 1907. The ewer is 18 cm or 7 inches high, 20 cm or 7.8 inches wide and is painted by Adriaan Lansaat. This is clearly visible in the monogram at the bottom of the object, which also features the factory logo of the Zuid-Holland pottery factory, as well as the model number: 169 and the words: Made in Holland. The ewer has a beautiful decor of purple flowers and elegant style elements that are so typical of the Art Nouveau or Jugendstil period. The object is in very good condition, only two tiny pieces of glaze are missing on the inside of the ear. Baking errors. The jug used to belong to the collection of the renowned Dutch collector Nico van Eijk.
