Description

This vase was made by the Dutch pottery factory called: Faience and Tile Factory ‘Holland’ from Utrecht. It was made around the year 1900. This factory is also known as ‘Mijnlieff’, after owner and founder Jan-Willem Mijnlieff. The vase is model 62, a bottle-shaped vase of 30 cm or 11.8 inch high and 17 cm or 6.7 inch wide. It has striking stylized ears. The design of this model is undoubtedly inspired by Orientalism, which was a popular fashion around the period 1890-1910. The vase is painted in a wonderful colour palette of light green, dark blue, black and yellow. You see cornflowers on the belly of the vase. On the neck you see ears of corn. The vase beautifully painted and has hardly any fadind colours, as you often see with Holland Utrecht. The vase is well signed with the logo of the factory: The oak leaf with the signature of Jan-Willem Mijnlieff: JM. You can also see a reference to the decor or work order number: 277B. The vase is in perfect condition.
