Description
This vase was made by the Dutch pottery company Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland in the period 1903-1905. This is model 304, a vase of 30,7 cm or 12 inch in height and 15 cm or 5.9 inch wide. The vase is painted with a beautiful P-decor featuring sunflowers. This P-decor was introduced to the market in 1901 by the Gouda pottery factory to compete with the popular, but very expensive, eggshell porcelain of it’s competitor Rozenburg from The Hague. This P-decor (‘P’ stands for porcelain) is also composed of thin lines and dots in green, red, and yellow. The yellow sunflowers are also entirely made in this fine painting style. The vase is clearly marked with the words: Made in Zuid-Holland. On the bottom, you can also see the model number carved: 304. Furthermore, the vase is marked with the decor type: P/b and the signature of an unknown pottery painter: CS. The vase is in perfect condition.
