Rozenburg The Hague, vase with large handle, Model 417, made in 1897.
Rozenburg The Hague, vase with large handle, Model 417, over 29 cm high, made in 1897.
Description
This vase was made by the Dutch Rozenburg pottery company from The Hague in November 1897. This is Model 417, a sturdy vase with an enormous handle that runs across the entire width of the vase. The vase is 29.5 cm or 11.6 inch high and 22 cm or 8.6 inch wide and painted with a beautiful floral decoration. The vase is clearly marked with the words: Rozenburg Den Haag. On the bottom, you can also see the factory logo, the stork, the year number: K, and the work order number: 1040. In the work order books preserved at the Municipal Archives of The Hague, it can be seen that three painters were involved in the production of this work order number: Römer, Sterke, and Verhaar. The vase is in very neat condition. Only a tiny chip on the base has been professionally restored. This vase was formerly part of the Meentwijck Collection.
The object is not for sale and belongs to my private collection.
