Description

This vase was made on May 28, 1901 in the Rozenburg pottery factory in The Hague. The precise production date has been found in the work order books from that time, which are in the custody of the Hague Municipal Archives. The vase is 16 cm or 6.3 inches high and 16.8 or 6.6 inches wide and has two round ears that run from the bottom of the belly up to the short, round neck. This is model 326 from the Rozenburg factory. The vase is painted with a decor of yellow irises on a brown background with sky blue and dark blue details. The painter is J.M.G. Brouwer. The vase is well signed at the bottom with the factory stamp, the year mark in the shape of an ant (1901), work order number 552 and a small B, Brouwer’s signature. The vase is in perfect condition. No damage or restorations were observed. The glaze under the belly does have some scratches.
