Description

This wall charger was made by the Tile- and Faience factory ‘Holland’ from Utrecht, better known as Mijnlieff. The large plate is 44 cm or 17.3 inch wide. It is painted with a beautiful decoration of red wild roses or eglantines against a dark blue background. The influence of the British Arts & Crafts Movement is clearly visible in this design. Small butterflies are painted around the rim. The wall charger is clearly signed with the factory logo, the oak leaf, containing the initials of Jan-Willem Mijnlieff, the business and artistic director of the Holland pottery factory. You can also see the code: 842 K, which possibly refers to the model or decoration. The plate is in good condition. There is a small hairline crack on the back, but this is not visible from the front. However, the plate does have a few irregular spots in the glaze. It is not damage, but firing flaws.
