Description
This vase was made by the Dutch pottery company Rozenburg from The Hague in 1894. It is model 242, an urn-shaped vase with a lid. Willem Hartgring painted the vase with a floral decoration of yellow, red, and blue flowers. Apples or oranges are depicted on the neck. The vase has a small lid with a graceful tip. The vase is 30 cm high or 11.8 inch (including lid) and 11.5 cm or 4.5 inch wide and is clearly marked on the bottom. You can see the words: Rozenburg Den Haag (The Hague), the logo with the stork, and a reference to the work order number: L69. L is the date letter for 1894. You can also see the remains of a sticker or label on the bottom, likely from the shop where it was originally purchased. No damage or restorations have been observed. The inside of the lid is missing a few glaze flakes, and the very tip has a flea bite. An excellent condition for a vase of this age.
