Gouda pottery wall Charger, 31 cm wide, painted by Johannes Hartgring 1900-1904

Description

This wall charger was made by pottery bakery Zuid-Holland from Gouda. It is 31.4 cm or 12.3 inch wide and painted with a decor of purple chalices on a green and black background. The yellow patterns with the black lines in the background are striking. The wall charger was painted by Johannes Hartgring in the period between 1900 and 1904. The object is well signed with the factory logo, the words: made in Zuid-Holland and the signature of Johannes Hartgring (J.H.). The object is not completely intact. There are some superficial scratches in the glaze on the front and the plate has a crack of a few centimeters, which is visible on both the front and the back. Because the crack is very thin, this is not disturbing.
