Description
This vase was made by the Dutch pottery factory ‘Holland’ from Utrecht in the period around 1900. The vase is model 104, a design with a round belly and two graceful ears. The vase is painted with a decoration of cranes. This was a popular theme for the pottery painters of Holland Utrecht and was inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, which were very popular at the end of the nineteenth century. Furthermore, the vase is decorated with white irises. The vase is 25.5 cm or 10 inch high and 14 cm or 5.5 inch wide. The object is well signed with the logo of Holland Utrecht: the oak leaf with the monogram of owner and founder Jan-Willem Mijnlieff. Furthermore, on the bottom of the vase are the words: Holland Utrecht, a number: 460 and an M, which probably refers to the painter. The vase is in perfect condition.
