Description

This vase was made by the Dutch pottery company Zuid-Holland in Gouda between 1908 and 1914. The vase is painted with a beautiful NP decoration. ‘NP’ stands for ‘new porcelain’ and is also called ‘kantjes’ (translation: little lace). This decoration was designed in 1908 by Willem Hartgring. It depicts a blue-purple flower surrounded by green leaves against a background composed of all sorts of fine lines and dots in imaginative patterns. The back of the vase is more sparsely painted, but even this interplay of lines and dots is magnificent. This is model 304, a tall vase with a narrow neck, 30.3 cm ( 11.9 inch) high and 16 cm (6.3 inch) wide. There are several markings on the bottom of the vase. You can see the name of the factory: Zuid-Holland Gouda, the logo in the shape of the Lazarus gate, and the reference to the model and decoration: 304/392. The model number 304 is also engraved on the bottom of the vase. The vase is signed by CV, an unknown painter. The vase is in perfect condition.
