Rozenburg handled vase, model 338, with a brown floral design.

Description

This vase was produced in January 1898 by the Dutch Rozenburg pottery factory from The Hague (Den Haag). It is model 338, an elegant vase featuring a massive handle that extends all the way from the base to above the neck. The vase measures 33.5 cm in height and 19 cm in width. It is decorated with a pattern of circles and flowers in a nearly monochrome palette of various shades of brown. The underside bears the factory’s logo, depicting a stork and the words ‘Rozenburg Den Haag’.You can also see with a crown, the date mark for 1898, and the work order number #87. The piece was painted by either Brouwer or Römer. The vase is not in perfect condition. The handle has a tiny crack, and there are a few spots where the glaze is missing (see photos).
