Rozenburg tall vase of 35 cm, model 476 with decor of flowers and birds from 1901
Description
This vase was made in October 1901 by the Rozenburg pottery factory from The Hague in Holland. This is model 476, a tall vase with a special design. The vase has a round base that ends in a square belly. This square ends in round ears and a narrow, round neck. Apart from this special design, the decoration is also impressive! You can see four birds, probably golden pheasants, surrounded by purple flowers against a background of light colours such as turquoise, yellow and olive green. The bottom of the vase has a deep dark blue colour. The front and back have a symmetrical decor, which comes together mirrored on all four sides of the vase. The vase was painted by H.J. van der Valk. This can be seen from the anchor at the bottom (his signature). There you will also see the stamp with the Rozenburg factory logo: the crown, the stork and the words: Rozenburg Den Haag. You also see an ant, the year mark for 1901 and the work order number: 1126. The vase is large: 35 cm or 13.8 inches high and 16 cm or 6.3 inches wide. The vase has probably undergone a restoration at the foot, but this is not visible. Neck and ears are intact. Elsewhere in the store is same model with different decor.
This vase is not for sale and belongs to my private collection.
