Description
This Gouda Pottery wall plate was made by Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland from Gouda in the Netherlands, in the period between 1898 and 1899. The wall plate has a diameter of 26 cm or 10,2 inch and has 2 holes at the foot to which a ring can be mounted. The wallplate is in excellent condition. There is no visible damage to the object. There is a slight discolouration at the top of the edge, which is in the glaze, but it is not a shard or chip.
The wallplate bears the logo of the factory, the model number 30 and is signed with the letters F and L. The F refers to the painter Franciscus Fonville, who worked at the factory between 1897 and 1907. The origin or name associated with the letter L is unknown, it probably refers to a decor number.
Unfortunately, this wall plate was lost during a shipment with UPS. If you come across it, please get in touch. I would very much like to get it back.
