Description

This vase was made by the Amsterdam pottery and tile factory De Distel in the period between 1895 and 1903. This is model 54, a low vase with two gigantic pointed handles. The vase is 19 cm or 7.5 inch wide and 13 cm or 5.1 inch high and is painted with a magnificent dragonfly design. The color combination of blue, green, black, and purple is beautiful. The vase is sparsely signed with only the factory logo, the name Distel, and the signature of G.P.W. Wildschut. The vase is in very good condition. There is only a small spot on one of the very tips of one of the handles. This is almost invisible to the naked eye. This vase is part of the Meentwijck Collection, on of the most renowned Art Nouveau and Art Deco Collection in The Netherlands.
