Description
This vase has a very wide foot and a narrow neck. The model is somewhat reminiscent of the decanters that were used on ships in the past (the shape of which could not easily tip over in the swell). Two ears are attached to the bottom of the narrow neck, it is model 165 from Plateel Bakkerij Zuid-Holland from Gouda. The vase was made in the period 1899-1904 and painted by Franciscus Fonville in a beautiful color combination of green, brown with yellow and purple details. The vase is 22.5 cm or 8.8 inches high and 18 cm or 7 inches wide. A beautiful example of very early Gouda pottery. The vase looks neat, but has undergone a professional restoration on the neck and one of the ears.
