Description

This Gouda pottery vase has a special model. It has a rounded belly and a thickening in the neck. This is model 238 from the Gouda pottery factory in Zuid-Holland, made in the period between 1902 and 1904. The vase is painted with a P-decor (also called ‘kantjes’) with yellow flowers. The decor was painted by Cornelis van Muijen. The vase is 14.7 cm or 5.5 inches high. The object is signed, but the marks on the bottom are difficult to read. You can make out the words: Made in Zuid-Holland, you see the factory logo and part of Van Muijen’s signature (C). The model number is also carved into the bottom: 238. The vase is in excellent condition. Only one baking error was observed, but the dark part of the flower was skillfully painted around it.
