Description

This wall charger was made by teh Dutch pottery factory Zuid-Holland from Gouda in the period between 1899 and 1901. The wall charger has size 3, with a diameter of 21 cm or 8.2 inch. The plate is painted with a beautiful decoration of fuchsia. You see the purple calyxes with hanging stamens and leaves, which are beautifully painted in a circle. The colour combination is very beautiful: green, yellow and purple against a background of white, light green and dark turquoise. This plate was painted by Willem Wolbers van Doornen, who worked in the Gouda pottery factory Zuid-Holland between 1899 and 1902. You can also see his in the signature (WW) on the back of the object. At the back you can also see the words: Made in Zuid-Holland and the logo in the shape of the Lazarus gate. A number of characters have also been stamped on the back of the plate. This was done by the manufacturer of the unpainted objects: the Waechtersbacher Steingutwerken from Germany. Until 1901, the Gouda factory obtained the wall chargers from their German colleague. In this mark you can see the size: 3 and the date of manufacture: 1899 (U). This plate must have come onto the market between 1899 and 1901. The wall charger is not alone and belongs to a pair (see last photo). They are for sale separately or as a pair. The other one is here. This plate (just like the other) is in perfect condition.
