This antique ewer was made by the Zuid-Holland pottery factory from the Dutch city of Gouda in the period 1899-1904. The object is model 315, an elegant design with a long neck and a high ear. The ewer is painted with an early Gouda decor with chalices in a beautiful colour combination of green, yellow, brick red, blue and purple. The object is 29,4 cm or 11.5 inches high. The ewer is well signed with the factory logo and the words: Made in Zuid Holland. Unfortunately, the painter’s signature is not clearly legible. It is therefore not known who decorated the object. The ewer has had a professional restoration on the spout and handle. This is invisible and therefore the object is in a very neat condition. This is a beautiful example, very early Gouda pottery.
