Holland Utrecht wall charger, nearly 30 cm in diameter with abstract floral decor in lilac and green

Description

This wall charger was made by the Dutch Tile and Faience company ‘Holland’ from the city of Utrecht during the period 1895-1904. This factory is also known by the name Mijnlieff, after director and owner Jan-Willem Mijnlieff. The object is 29.5 cm or 11.6 inch wide and is painted with a beautiful abstract floral design in lilac, light green, grey-blue, and burgundy red. The bottom of the plate is clearly marked with the factory logo: the oak leaf with Jan-Willem Mijnlieff’s monogram: JM and several characters, presumably work order numbers. The wall plate is in good condition. Only at the bottom, near the hanging mechanism, a piece of glaze is missing and a small crack is visible. The edges are completely intact. There is a small firing defect on the front (see photo, greatly magnified). Elsewhere in the shop, a vase by Holland Utrecht is available (model 189) with a similar decor in a slightly different color scheme. It is nice to see how this decor has been applied to various objects.
