Description

This vase was made in October 1895 by the Dutch pottery factory Rozenburg from The Hague (Den Haag). This is model 287A, a short vase with a wide belly and a single, large handle. There is also a version (B) with two handles. This vase is painted with a classic poppy motif. The flowers, leaves, and seed pods are visible against a neutral, light brown background. The vase is 15.5 cm (6.1 inch) high and 15 cm (5.9 inch) wide. The bottom is clearly marked with the words: Rozenburg Den Haag, the Mx (date stamp for 1895), and the work order number: 662. The work order logs indicate that W.F.A. Stolle painted the vase. A little chip on the base has undergone a restoration in the past. The handle and neck are in good condition.
