Description
This vase was made by the Dutch pottery factory Rozenburg from The Hague (Den Haag) in November 1902. It was painted by master painter Willem Hartgring. This is model 325, a graceful vase with a narrow foot, a wide body, and a narrow neck. Two large handles extend from the bottom of the body to the top of the neck. The vase is painted with a beautiful floral design, including purple poppies, against a dark blue and yellow background. The colours yellow, purple, dark brown, and green create a unique and cheerful combination. The vase is 22 cm (8.6 inch) high and 18.5 cm (7.3 inch) wide and is in excellent condition. Only a tiny chip is present on the sharp side of one of the handles. The vase is well signed with the logo of the Hague Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg. Also visible are the sun, the year mark for 1902, and the H, Willem Hartgring’s signature.
