Description
This vase was made by the Dutch pottery company Zuid-Holland from Gouda during the period 1901-1904. This is model 309, a large vase measuring 29 cm (11.4 inch) high and 15 cm (5.9 inch) wide, painted with a floral decoration. You can see large blue-purple irises and small flowers in the colour blocks in between. The use of many different colors is striking, such as red, yellow, purple, blue, dark green, brown, and bright green. The vase was painted by Leendert Muller. The vase is well marked. On the bottom, you can see the words: Made in Zuid-Holland, the Lazarus Gate, and Muller’s signature: LM. The model number is also carved into the base: 309. The vase is in good condition. A professional restoration has been carried out on a small chip at the base.
