Holland Utrecht vase, model 191 with decoration of water lily, iris and dragonfly
Holland Utrecht vase, model 191 with decoration of water lily, iris and dragonfly, made between 1897-1904.
Description
This vase was made in the period 1897-1904 by the Dutch Faience and Tile Factory ‘Holland’ from Utrecht. It is a large vase of 36.5 cm or 14.3 inch high and 24 cm or 9.4 inch wide. This is model 191. The vase is painted with a beautiful decoration with water lily, iris and dragonflies. You can clearly see the typical style characteristics of Art Nouveau in the decoration, with the whiplash motifs. The decoration has a beautiful colour scheme with green, blue, red and brown tones. The vase is well signed with the logo of the Holland Utrecht factory: the oak leaf with the monogram of Jan-Willem Mijnlieff in it. You can also see the work order number: 487 H. The model number is scratched into the bottom of the vase: M 191. The vase is in a neat condition. It has had a restoration on the neck in the past, where a chip has been restored. This restoration is not visible to the naked eye.
This vase is not for sale and belongs to my private collection.
