Description
This tall ewer was made by the Dutch Rozenburg factory in The Hague. The object is 29.5 cm (11.6 inches) high and 14.5 cm (5.7 inches) wide. This is model 393, a pottery ewer with a square neck and foot, which are perpendicular to the four square panels of the body. The object is painted on two sides with a yellow flower and on alternating sides with a purple flower. The ewer was painted by Jan van der Vet in 1903. The object is well signed with the logo of the pottery: Rozenburg Den Haag. The year mark for 1903 (the star), the work order number: #89, and the signature of master painter Jan van der Vet. The object is in very good condition. The spout and handle are completely intact. The foot has had a small restoration on one of the points, where there was a small chip. This restoration is not visible to the naked eye, but under magnification, you can see that the craquelure doesn’t run al the way through to the end.
This is one ewer from a set, with the exact same model, decoration, colour scheme, year mark, and work order number. In short: there is another example of this object available. This one has a slightly different colour scheme (a slight nuance, the colors are a bit brighter). Click here for the other one.
