Description

This tall ewer was made by the Dutch pottery factory Rozenburg from The Hague in 1903. The ewer is 29.5 cm or 11.6 inches and 14 cm or 5.5 inches wide. This is model 393, an object with a short neck, square shoulders, a square belly and a square base. The fact that the squares are ‘twisted’ and perpendicular to each other, makes for a great design. The painting with purple and yellow flowers once again emphasises the beautiful shape of this model. The ewer has a beautiful colour combination of different tones of brown and black with beautiful bright yellow and purple details. The object is well signed with the logo of the pottery factory: Rozenburg Den Haag. The year mark for 1903 (the star), the work order number: #89 and the signature of master painter Jan van der Vet. The antique ewer is in very good condition. Spout and ear are completely intact. The base has had two small restorations on two of the four points, where some damage to the glaze has been fixed. These are not visible to the naked eye.
