Description

This vase was made in Purmerend by the firm of Wed. N.S.A. Brantjes & Co. in 1897. It is model 1029, a slender vase measuring 19.7 cm high and 7.5 cm wide. The vase is decorated with cornflowers in shades of blue and gray-blue, against a brick-red background. The yellow cartouches, in which figures are painted in fine black lines resembling embroidery, are striking. Similar patterns can be found on other Brantjes vases (see photos). This is a designation with the designation: E. The vase is well signed. You can see the factory logo, the clog with the monogram of Nicolaas Brantjes: NB. Also the brand name: Faience de Purmerende, Hollande. You can see the marking for the model: 1029 and the design: E, as well as the date letter B for 1897. The vase is well signed by an unknown painter with the monogram: LA. The object is in good condition. However, there is a tiny chip on the rim of the neck, where a piece of glaze is missing.
