Description

This ewer was made by the Zuid-Holland pottery factory from Gouda in the period 1900-1904. It is model 169, a design with a very wide belly, ending in a narrow, straight neck. Next to the neck is an ear. The object is 18 cm or 7 inches high, 20 cm or 7.8 inches wide and is signed by Adriaan Lansaat. You will find his monogram on the bottom of the object, where the factory logo of Zuid-Holland can also be seen, as well as the model number: 169 and the words: Made in Holland. The jug has a beautiful decor of purple flowers and elegant stylistic elements that are so typical of the Art Nouveau or Jugendstil period. The presence of the bright colours red and yellow is striking, something that you rarely encounter in the early period of Zuid-Holland. The ewer is in very good condition.
