Description

This wall charger was made in the period between 1900 and 1904 by the Dutch pottery factory Zuid Holland from the city of Gouda. The object was painted by Johannes Hartgring in a beautiful colour combination of green, purple, yellow and turquoise. This is a well-known decor that also exists in other colour combinations (see last photo). The object is 25 cm or 9.8 inches wide. The plate is well signed on the back. You see the words: Made in Zuid Holland, the factory logo and the signature of Johannes Hartgring (JH). You also see the stamp of the German pottery factory Waechtersbach, which made the (unpainted) plates for the Gouda pottery factory in the first period of production, from 1898 to 1904. The plate is in good condition, except for a bit of damage, right on the rim. The rim (bottom right of the plate) is missing about 2.2 cm or 0.8 inch of the glaze. Unfortunately, this is also visible from the front.
